Our Hong Kong office sponsored Be EnGayged’s annual Mooting Competition on August 20. Participants discussed whether terms such as “spouse,” “monogamous marriage,” “husband” and “wife” should be interpreted within relevant legislation to include same-sex couples married outside of Hong Kong. Be EnGayged is run by University of Hong Kong law students and aims to enhance public education on LGBTQ+ rights and bring together members and allies of the university’s LGBTQ+ community and broader local legal sector.
