The Chicago office has played a vital role in the firm’s long-standing commitment to pro bono service and has been active for decades in community leadership positions. Most notably, the office was honored by the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights (CLCCR) with the 2017 Law Firm Pro Bono Award, which recognized the office's longtime partnership with the CLCCR and, specifically, the office's most recent work supporting the relaunch of the organization's hate crimes project. We have provided thousands of hours of pro bono legal assistance to local and national organizations handling wrongful conviction, death penalty, immigration and constitutional litigation matters, including before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
In 2014, the office celebrated its 30th anniversary in the Chicago market. To commemorate the event, the office embarked on a 12-month commitment whereby its attorneys and staff would conduct 30 Acts of Giving as a way to say thanks to our local community. The “Acts” included pro bono representations, community service, various drives, internal fundraisers and a range of other projects that benefitted our community. The organizations were chosen by our attorneys and staff and focus on issues ranging from poverty and hunger to veterans affairs and the environment to education and the arts.
