Skadden announced today that Bao Nguyen has joined the firm’s Financial Institutions Regulation and Enforcement Group as a partner in its Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Nguyen most recently served as the principal deputy chief counsel at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), where he was responsible for the policy and legal aspects of the OCC’s rulemaking, review of transactions and applications, and enforcement activity. Prior to joining the OCC, Mr. Nguyen was a senior counsel at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, where he had lead roles reviewing major applications and developing regulations under the Dodd-Frank Act. “Adding Bao to our team expands our already significant capabilities in the financial services and fintech space,” said Sven Mickisch, co-head of the Financial Institutions Group at Skadden. “Bao’s experience at the senior levels of the federal bank regulatory agencies and his resourceful approach to problem-solving will help our clients navigate the complex and rapidly evolving financial regulatory landscape.”

“I have worked with Bao for much of his career at the Federal Reserve and the OCC and have always admired his legal acumen and practical judgment in dealing with some of the most complicated regulatory matters confronted by those agencies,” said Brian Christiansen, a partner in Skadden’s Financial Institutions Regulation and Enforcement Group. “Bao’s significant experience with policy decisions, rulemaking, transaction reviews and enforcement matters will further develop our ability to provide differentiated advice on virtually any matter in the financial services sector.”

“I’m excited to join such a talented team at Skadden and look forward to growing the financial services practices and working with a wide range of clients on their most important matters to enhance their businesses and ensure they achieve their goals,” said Mr. Nguyen.
