Nesa Amamoo’s practice focuses on a range of matters related to real estate, real estate finance and private equity, including U.S. and offshore private placements, public and private REITs, joint ventures, opportunity zone funds, acquisitions and sales, construction and development projects, leasing and real estate-related capital markets and syndicated loan transactions (and other credit facilities).

Bio

With respect to private equity, Ms. Amamoo has advised sponsor and investor clients in the formation, operation and capitalization of a broad range of U.S. and offshore private funds, and related financing, acquisition and disposition transactions, including BlackRock, Colony Capital, RREEF America, Fortress Investment Group, Dune Capital, AREA Property Partners and Fir Tree Capital.

In the area of real estate finance, she has represented real estate companies and financial institutions, including Deutsche Bank, and borrowers in the origination and sale of a wide range of debt instruments, such as traditional mortgage loans, securitized real estate loans, single- and multi-tiered mezzanine loans, construction loans and unsecured revolving credit facilities.

Ms. Amamoo is representing the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in its $13 billion plan to redesign John F. Kennedy International Airport. She also has advised clients in connection with joint venture matters and in the acquisition, financing, development and disposition of office buildings and hotels, including SL Green Realty, LNR Property and André Balazs. Additionally, she has counseled tenants in corporate leases transactions, including Skadden in connection with the lease of its Washington, D.C. office headquarters.

In addition, Ms. Amamoo is active in pro bono work, representing, among others, nonprofit organization The Eye-Care Foundation, Inc. in general corporate matters, as well as individuals subjected to excess force in seeking recompense. She also serves as a member of the advisory board of the Skadden Foundation.

In recognition of her work, Ms. Amamoo was named a Dealmaker of the Year by the New York Law Journal. She also was recognized as one of Crain’s New York Business’ 2022 Notable Women in Law and one of its 2020 Rising Stars in Real Estate, in addition to being named one of Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Dealmakers in America. Additionally, she was named as a 2021 Real Estate MVP by Law360 and one of Real Estate Forum’s 2018 50 Under 40 in recognition of her transactional work and pro bono contributions. She also has been named as an Empire State Counsel Honoree by the New York State Bar Association.
